Winter 2025 Cooking Classes
Saturday, January 11th from 10 am to 1 pm, for ages 10+
Pasta (Homemade, That Is!) & More This class has it all - a scrumptious menu, knife skills, teamwork, and plain fun. We'll make homemade fettuccine pasta and we'll serve that with our fresh tomato sauce as well as a basil-spinach pesto. Your child will leave feeling proud of their culinary accomplishments. Beginning Thursday, January 16th and running through Thursday, February 27th (no class on February 13th). From 4:30-5:30 pm, for ages 10+
After School Culinary Program In this 6-week program, we will focus on different cooking techniques, incorporating knife skills, food & kitchen safety, nutrition, and food science every step of the way. The idea is that your child will learn a culinary technique rather than just a recipe so that he/she walks away with much deeper knowledge and skill. Topics will include: Knife Skills, Emulsions, Roasting, Marinades, Stir Frying and Pie Making Skills. This is a VEGETARIAN class series. Cost: $150 per child for 6-week program. Lil' Sprouts Cooking Class In honor of Martin Luther King Day, we will be preparing one of MLK's favorite desserts - peach cobbler. This drop-off session will introduce Lil' Chefs to basic kitchen safety concepts and cooking skills while incorporating the legacy of MLK in the reading of the book We Dream a World. Intro to Sushi Delighted to invite Chef Noor back to lead this very popular Sushi making class. With rolling mats and chop sticks provided, you'll be all prepared to try your hand at preparing Sushi Rice, a variety of Nori Rolls and Onigiri, traditional Japanese Rice Balls. Saturday, February 8th from 10 am to 1 pm, for ages 10+
Classic Desserts We'll focus on two spectacular classic desserts, Pavlovas and Cream Puffs. Baked Meringues and freshly whipped cream, combined with fresh berries and homemade Raspberry Coulis will result in mini Pavlovas. We'll also learn the technique of making choux pastry and filling them with crème pâtissière (pastry cream) to create traditional mini Cream Puffs drizzled with Chocolate Ganache. Lil' Sprouts Cooking Class What's the only thing to do after reading The Runaway Tortilla? Make our own fresh corn tortillas, of course! Your child will learn how to make authentic masa dough, press out their tortilla and turn it into the most delicious cheesy quesadilla served with homemade guacamole. Cinnamon Delights I needed an excuse to finally feature Cinnamon Rolls in a baking class and here it is! Apart from deliciously sticky Homemade Cinnamon Rolls with a Vanilla Glaze, we'll also prepare Apricot-Cinnamon Scones and Caramelized Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pineapple served with a side of Vanilla Ice Cream.
